Criminals attacked the Singapore Japanese Summer Festival last night, during the closing moments of the second night of the StarCraft: Command & Conquer exhibit.
Toyota-Huawei were hosting a live demonstration of their Goliath military mechanical walkers, featured prominently in the eSport tournament earlier this summer. The two military walkers appeared to fire on the crowd, causing damage to the exhibit and sending the audience panicking. During the chaos, one of the criminals is seen entering one of the Goliaths and piloted it onboard a heavy transport trailer. Both Goliath operators remain at large. One HSMBC Blackwater trooper was killed at the scene, and another has been hospitalized for injuries in the line of duty. Temasek CERTIS police were unable to track the fugitives. Boeing strike craft were seen later in the Boon Lay area, where weapons fire and explosions were reported, though these reports are unconfirmed at this time.
Earlier in the summer, Toyota-Huawei's Team Axiom defeated the local Team Lightning in a close game to win the Boeing FIFA eSport World Championship. The exhibit included participants from both teams. The stolen Goliath was to continue on a tour with Team Axiom through Johor-Bahru and Seoul.
Toyota-Huawei officials initially believed the criminals were targeting popular JPOP idol Yukiko Hano, more popularly known as V8 Sugar, who was performing nearby at the time. HSMBC Black protective service personnel promptly escorted her to safety. But HSMBC analysts now believe this was not the case.
One of the Goliaths was retrieved on the scene, and is being examined by Temasek forensic teams. Both Confederated Boeing and Toyota-Huawei lodged official complaints at the violation of proprietary hardware agreements. The other Goliath remains unaccounted for. The affair calls into question Temasek's ability to safeguard corporate assets in Singapore. Toyota-Huawei has released a statement lamenting the loss of cultural property, and have offered the help of their Bureau of Public Security in protecting Toyota corporate citizens and property on the island.
