Seven Islands

Created by

In a small corner of The Forgotten Realms, Seven Islands seems to stay hidden from the rest of the world. The stories of this ancient land are unlike any other. Not many travel to their shores and not many feel the need to leave this unique settlement. The islands breed proud and powerful people, each with different values that most will firmly defend. Every island has a different story and a different power hidden underneath. Although you may arcane influence rippling through the earth under your feet as you walk through these lands, the story of its origin remains unknown. At the core sits the Settlers Tome, an ancient book that holds a great power no one can harness. The legend goes that the original settlers tried to control the strange arcane power found in the land. The magic they tried to create with it was too overwhelming and chaotic, and once they tried to manipulate it, it split the land apart into seven pieces. The only way they could keep the power from spreading further is bounding it to a single item, a spell book of their mage. No one knows what became of them after. Now the Settlers Tome sits at the center of the capitol, the energy radiating off of it in a beam of opalescent light that seems to change shades with the season. No one can touch it or try to understand the shifting written word that can be seen flashing through its ever turning pages. Although it’s magic is unknown, the people of the Seven Islands have an inherent understanding that it somehow protects them. Even being in the same room creates a sense of comfort and security, that it is what makes the islands such a peaceful place, even with the strength radiating off it it. Due to this, the Settlers Tome is locked away at the highest floor of the tower now used as the capitol building for all the islands. Heavily guarded, the only people allowed to enter the same room is each island ruler and their chosen magical advisor. The Seven Islands today are a vibrant home to diverse cultures. Each island is ran and governed independently with different forms of political hierarchy best suit for each island’s population. Even though they are separated governments and cultures, the rulers are all in great alliance with each other and tend to run very similarly. For the sake of the islands’ alliance, the rulers all meet once a year to discuss legislation, the needs of their people, and to be near the book.
