Seven Devils
You cannot remember when the land you live in was taken by the Seven Devils; all you know is that it was before you were born. They burst from their wrappings and found their homes in the seven warlords of Gaodith:
the pirate, possessed of Lust;
the druid, possessed of Gluttony;
the mechanic, possessed of Greed;
the beastmaster, possessed of Sloth;
the priestess, possessed of Wrath;
the necromancer, possessed of Envy;
the empress, possessed of Pride.
For decades, the warlords have governed their ever-shifting and warring territories, forming alliances and breaking them like the shifting of the sea. The people can do nothing but suffer under them, and their eternal war breaks the land below their armies' feet and grows the Hollowlands ever further from its center at the lands' heart.
You awake one morning with cloth around your eyes and a dagger to your throat. Your ribs ache with the memory of collapsed lungs and shattered bone.
You died last night.
And tomorrow, you will kill a demon.
