Kininey Forest Expanse
The Kininey Forest Expanse is a taiga region to the far north. While it is regarded as inhospitable for most creatures due to its cold temperatures, there are almost as many that find it ideal. For instance, the Kininey Expanse is said to be the ancestral homeland of the Nikki race.
Geography
A dense forest where snow remains on the ground for the majority of the year. There have even been years where the snow did not melt at all.
There are also many freshwater rivers that run through to the ocean. The views can be beautiful especially at night when the sky and seas are illuminated by stars and the Aurora borealis.

The ecosystem here is shaped by the cold. All organisms that live here have adapted to it. Some through fur, some with fat, and in some cases both.
Ecosystem Cycles
In Spring and Summer, saplings begin to emerge from the softening surface layers of the snow and small animals come out of their burrows to forage for food.
During the harshest parts of Winter, many animals enter a state of torpor in which their metabolism slows in order to allocate more energy to body heat.
