Astral Crater

Geography

The landscape is remarkably similar to how it was when the meteor landed. It is surrounded by a forest in what is otherwise a grassland.

Ecosystem

Ecosystems in the crater's immediate vicinity are believed to be the closest to how they were in ancient times. Other small communities have formed centered around pieces of meteorite left behind during the explosion. Each one is so close, yet so distinct--an effect that can be directly addressed to the mana in each rock.

Localized Phenomena

The area around the crater is unpredictable due to the abundance of mana around it. Legends say that the crater is a gateway to the heavens themselves.

History

This crater is believed to be the site where the comet containing the world's mana crashed into the planet billions of years ago. Casual visitors and pilgrims alike come to feel one with the God Sephiran as it is said that when he was but a small ancestral rodent, he himself fell through a small hole in what would become the crater. Though presumed dead, he awoke in the heavens and gained divine powers including control of the astral plane--where lost souls of all sorts of creatures convene. It has since become a sacred site.
As such, many cultures fought over this land for millennia, contending with wild beasts that were also attracted to the mana almost as often as other peoples. The fighting only sought when Sephiran, in a fit of rage, unintentionally directed loads of mana to tear itself away from those it deemed wicked and wiped entire villages off the face of the planet, also blowing up the meteor.

Tourism

Many come to feel closer/at one with the gods, or just sometimes to see the wildlife.
