Landon was a bright young man Who led his people with a firm hand All adored him except one before him Whose jealousy caused this plan

His name long forgotten for the plot it was rotten On the day he killed his friend.

Sheer cliffs he climbed For an old man he did find Who told him in time How is friend would die

He brewed the concoction And put his plan into action So that Landon affected Became less effective

Landon soon wanted to sleep Forever so deep That he never woke up again.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Grown in small clusters of stems that reach 2ft in height. Two to three purple flowers will grow along the stem with several oval shaped petals.

Genetics and Reproduction

Landons' Lethargy will produce seeds just before Winter sets in. They rely on wind or insect pollination between the carpels and stamens. The seeds are a deeper purple than the flower and about 1/4in wide in diameter. The seeds have been known to lay dormant for years until the right conditions are met.

Growth Rate & Stages

The flower grows rather slowly and can take up to three or six years to fully mature. In the initials stages of growth Landons' Lethargy can seem like patches of thick grass. It will actually produce small versions of the flower at this stage, but relies more on the razor shaped leaves for further growth. It will grow dormant in the Winter by creating a hard outer shell to protect itself. During the Spring time the outer shell will fall apart allowing it to grow once more. Once it has reached maturity it will produce seeds if pollination has been successful. It is during the last year of its' life that it is prime for harvesting.

Ecology and Habitats

Landons' Lethargy prefers rocky coastlines and the moisture coming in from the sea. Which means any who wish to harvest the plant must venture along sheer cliffs every year to check if the plant is close to maturity.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

While the plant grows extremely slowly it is a highly sought after ingredient for spells and potions. When fully matured and harvested correctly it can produce a concoction that will allow a peaceful nights' sleep. Typically used to cure those plagued by the wakefulness disease. However there are always those who will use beneficial plants for nefarious means. When brewed with no dilution method the plant will make a deadly connection known as eternal sleep. This concoction is administered slowly over time is subtly is required. Usually one drop a day ingested in some way will slowly cause the victim to lose energy and all motivation. It can appear to others that the victim is sick with perhaps a common cold. If left untreated the victim will die peacefully in their sleep. However, there is no return from one who has been given too much of Landons' Lethargy. No ritual undead or otherwise will bring them back. This is how the plant received its' common name when Landon the Bright was killed.
