Humans

The Fairer Race

Written and edited by Lucille Ward
Human’s, by their weak constitution, and general lack of exceptional skill are often and mistakenly presumed to be feeble adversaries. However they remain the most prominent species across the known world. Their connection to the Order of Elegance is greater than any other race, and what they lack in strength they make up in utter brutality. There is no honor among them. For in their wars not even the women and children are spared. An excerpt from, Skraal’s Methods of War.

A Divided Race

The humans are not only cruel to other races but also among themselves. They enslave each other, they kill each other, and they are always looking for a higher calling that outshines their fellow man. The Releks say that no matter what a human believes, they only truly believe in the path that will make them transcend all others.
A Human's loyalty is of less value than a broken arrow.
Feinwind of the Mountain Giants

Apex Predators

There is not a known being on Sengveil, that is of Sengveil, that can not be killed by a skilled hunter of the human race. While there are places still unknown to man, their resolve for conquest is unmatched.
The human solution to killing what has been named 'Unkillable' is to keep throwing more humans at it until they are all dead or one of them succeeds.
Skraal’s Methods of War   Mankind's beauty is best described as, the admiration one would hold for an exotic flesh-eating plant. And more than once humans have proven that to be true.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Small fleshy bipedal. It's hide is soft even its callused places can be easily pierced. A human has two arms and no tail. Rather than being covered in fur the human grows hair only in a few places. Naked and left to the elements humans do not last long, however they are resilient in the cold, more so than other species due to their hot blood temperature. Their internal skeleton is a hard and sturdy structure, however their bones are thin compared to most, and they have no horns.

Genetics and Reproduction

Humans are mammals and therefore give live birth. When the male mingles his soul with the female the offspring is conceived. The female will carry the child, growing, in her stomach for nine months. When the child is fully developed the mother will give birth. This process is painful and takes time. The offspring is born male or female, and typically has all of its senses from the beginning.

Growth Rate & Stages

A female human matures faster than a male and will become a full adult in her late teens, whereas the male often matures in his early twenties. The growth cycle has seven stages and starts with, conception and development (9 months), birth (24 hrs), babe (4 yrs), child (7 yrs), learner (14 yrs), Teen (18 yrs), and finally, adult (19 yrs). The adult phase lasts up until their death and they only grow weaker after fully maturing.

Ecology and Habitats

Humans have made it their mission to survive in any habitat, although often that means destroying its natural state and conforming the elements to a comfortable environment.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Humans are the ultimate omnivores and will try to eat or drink just about anything. They should balance their diets with meats, grain, and vegetation.

Biological Cycle

Human's are a rare species, even during debilitating cycles such as, the blood of the month in females and the raging break in males, they will remain constantly at work to ensure their survival and thriving.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Humans rely heavily on their five senses, hearing, sight, taste, smell, and touch. None of which are exceptional but this is more senses than some other races. Elegance was once a sixth sense and even companion to humans but as the population grew and the tie became weaker humans have forgotten the strength they once had. Human's senses are, however not set in stone. If a human were to lose their sense of hearing then the other senses would grow stronger to compensate for the missing sense. this is unique to humans.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

The Seven. These great houses of mankind, cary the pure blood of the first humans, The Wrath of God. These houses have incredibly strong ties to the Order of Elegance and their magic is second to none. These houses are Erhard, Agrivar, Thornstead, Brachfel, Hammyn Kobalt, and Brykas. Five of the seven houses belong to Caeluria. Brykas is the house of the Ky-Ju, and Kobalt the house of the Treyd Empire. Those born in these families are given their last name upon inheritance. There can be only one member and spouse that hold these names at a time.

Major Organizations

There are six main religious organizations among the kingdoms of man. All are lies or half truths, save for that which is held by the Order of Deacons. The religious groups are, the Church of Sunlight, Church of Firelight, Church of the Dying Light, The Unclouded Starlight, Order of Deacons, The Zhaid.

Beauty Ideals

Humans beauty ideals vary depending on where they're from. The Caelurians find darker skin and metallic colored eyes very attractive. They also view necks and collar bones as beautiful. Hair is often worn up for these reasons. The men of the Treyd value strength, and independence. Women that fight in battle, men that bow only to those deserving. These are attractive traits. Pale Women with scars are highly desirable, and men with missing body parts are considered very honorable and an ideal match. The Ky-Ju are a people of lust, only the priests of the Zhaid hold them selves apart. To them the ideals are lean bodies, smooth curves, big lips, enlarged breasts, rippling muscles, exotic colors. The Ky-Ju like many different kinds of beauty.

Gender Ideals

Depending on the Kingdom gender ideals can be very different. Women of Caeluria are either militarized clerics, healers, priestesses, or companions. Whereas in the Treyd Empire, thanks to a powerful empress and her daughter, Women are expected to do everything a man does, and share equal footing with him. The Ky-Ju, are warriors and lovers, and to them it does not matter which you are, so long as you have consent.

Courtship Ideals

In the High Bloodlines marriages are arranged and even sometimes unity is shared between three or four partners to ensure the continuation of the Holy and Pure Blood lines.

Relationship Ideals

In the Ky-Ju marriages are not often and most of the time a boy will stay with his mother until he is old enough to lay with a woman, then he will leave her and make many bastards in his wake. The men of the Treyd have long relationships, that are often practical and good, and over time they become friendships and even longer still they wait until they build for themselves love. The Caelurians are passionate lovers and form attachments and engagements and then break them off to do the same with new lovers. Marriages are for life in Caeluria and so it is rare for a couple to wed and bed when they could simply bed.

Average Technological Level

The Treyd Empire developed walls and canons and steam cars on tracks, and air balloons and flying ships. They used these to protect themselves from the dangerous surface, and to trade with Caeluria. Caeluria has improved and perfected their architecture and art. They live peaceful relaxed lives so their technology has a long way to come yet. The Ky-Ju Have had nothing but animal parts, rock, and sand to build their civilization, and yet they have become one of the largest mining communities in all the known world.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

There is the Common language which is not spoken unless the three kingdoms are together, All three speak their own tongue and in the Treyd Empire there are several dialects of it.   The Treyd Empires language is a harsh and guttural sounding tongue, it also has several words and phrases that are non existent in other tongues due to its many advances, not yet achieved by its sister kingdoms.   The Caelurian language is an older tongue, with a deeper history. it is a melodic language which is difficult for foreigners to speak.   The Ky-Ju adopted a language never meant to be spoken by humans. They did this long ago, to communicate with their masters the Arch Daemons. The language is older than any recorded, and even though some of its pronunciations are lost to history, it is still very much alive, even with the fall of the last daemon being 300 years ago.

Common Etiquette Rules

although the human's hate one another there is a general respect for the other kingdoms. The Treyd Empire, even though it is considered by the Caelurians to be a forsaken kingdom, has made its position very clear over the last hundred years. The Treyd Empire is a force to be reckoned with, so trade is done civilly and Caeluria gives them many riches and conveniences when they come to visit. The Ky-Ju are never to be seen by any other humans. If one is caught he has given up his right to be treated as human and may be done to, whatever the captor deems fit.

Common Dress Code

The Trey Empire dresses in furs and steel, leather and hide. They work hard and luxurious clothing and alluring garb is not practical.   The women of Caelum where greens, blues, reds, and whites. They oft leave their bellies exposed and let drapes and shawls cover their shoulders. Their dresses ar short and the shoes that they where are thin strap sandals. The men often dress in black or white and wear long pants that tuck into fur boots, and they wear sleeves that cover their shoulders but leave their necks and chest exposed.   The Ky-Ju where scarves, gloves, goggles, and head coverings, as well as thick winter gear. The desert is cold and frozen, the sand storms cut skin, and so they must be well protected. Even with all their heavy gear they still get freezer burn on their faces.

History

Human's have a long and ancient history though not much is known about the humans before the Age of Daemons, when the six Arch Daemons rebelled and tried to conquer the world. This was after the humans had become their weaker forms and there were many of them. Some sided with the daemons, others were tricked into following and worshiping the daemons while others still maintained that they were the most powerful. As the world around them crumbled and the greatest war that has ever been recorded took place, the rich history of The human's origin was erased. But seven of the original names could not be forgotten. These were the seven great names that made the Houses of Mankind. These were the Wrath of God.   The human's after the Age of Daemons were separated into three kingdoms. Those that sided with the daemons were banished to the desert under the Ever-Storm. They became the Ky-Ju. Those that were tricked into believing the daemons' lies, were situated comfortably in the sky continents which were given them by the Arch Daemon Sa'Shiem. These became the Caelurians. And those who held fast believing that they were strongest, were left in torment on a dangerous wicked surface world where the sky is blotted out by the floating sky continents. These humans called themselves Men of the Treyd. Their Kingdom advanced through turmoil and despair and has become one of the greatest empires in all the known world.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Human's are an incredibly racist species, not only are they against interspecies relationships but there are even some who refuse to allow interracial relationships. All Human's are this way, even if some are more openminded or more often victimized they still have this as a foundational thought process. It will take many more centuries before it is written out of their cultural DNA.
Lucille delves into some of the history of her own race, and shares an honest view on how the rest of the world understands Humankind.
Genetic Ancestor(s)
Origin/Ancestry
Most Bipedal species originate from the same ancestors, the Felled Ones. However humans are an ancient species, dating back to a time before the Felled Ones. When there were few humans in existence they were known as Wrath of God
Conservation Status
Humankind's connection to the Order of Elegance is their protection. There are seven bloodlines that link strongly back to the Elegance, a sentient essence that strengthens the weaker races of the world to keep them alive. Elegance's connection grows more powerful as a species goes extinct.

Author's Notes

Being from Caeluria myself, there was a time that I had no idea of the dominant predator nature of humans. But as I traveled and truly began to study the other races of the known world I came to realize just how dangerous we really are.
