Faneshorn: The Center of the World

The world of Senéa is populated with many landmasses, but the continent of Faneshorn is considered to be the cradle of civilization and the origin point of most culture's creation myths. The Primal and Ethereal spirits ended their war here long ago, shaping it and leaving it rich in magic and mystery. The land is vast and divided between various factions, playing host to members of nearly every race imaginable, though many have since spread to make their own empires elsewhere. Various city states vie for power along the southern and western coasts, the oldest of the dwarven Clanholds boldly lay claim to entire mountain ranges, and the armies of the fearsome Dragonlords and Enrazi warbands clash across the valleys and mountain passes. The once-great elven cities struggle to maintain their power and influence astride the broken plains, seemingly always beset by roving bands of raiders. Meanwhile the ever growing shadow of the Ozrunai Empire lurks beyond the peaks of the eastern mountains.

Geography

Faneshorn is a wide and spacious continent bordered by the Gleaming Sea to the north and west, the Agewic Ocean to the east, and the Shoregone Shelf to the south. The high peaks of the Kazdwarim mountains split the various city states and warring factions in the west from the tentatively unified Ozrunai Empire in the east.   The Kazdwarim are the eastern arm of a great horse-shoe of mountain ranges that span the continent, running north-south from the Arion Highlands in the far south-east to meet the Kaztarwim range in the north, forming the ancient valley called the Giant's Crib. The Kaztarwim in turn run east to west across the north of the continent, over the great dwarven Clanhold halls to curve south and become the Mountains of Light.   The lands astride the mountain ranges and along the coasts are lined with deciduous forests and fertile farmland, having been settled and formed into various proud, independent city states. The mountain slopes nearer the center of the continent run down to vast uncharted forests such as the Elderwood and the Darrowpath, where the elven houses hold sway. Between these forests run the wide swaths of the Midplains; an empty, windswept grassland ruled by the Plainsfolk clans and bandit hordes unwelcome anywhere else. To the north of these lawless reaches sits Dragonhold, a once expansive empire now reduced to a shadow of its glory as its draconic rulers recoup their strength from a lost war.   The eastern wing of the continent developed similarly, with a multitude of cities forming and consolidating their own power to protect against the unforgiving wilds outside their borders. Over time however the hill-country fortress city Ozrunai has expanded its influence, and the banner of the fledgling Ozruani Empire now flies over many settlements in the surrounding country.   To the north west of the continent proper is the archipelago known as the Bulwark Isles, once home to hearty human and dwarven sailing settlements now controlled, in name at least, by the Pirate Triumvirate. Opposite, in the waters of the Shoregone Shelf to the south is the island chain of Cair Caglan, where four tribes of sea farers eek out a harsh existence of fishing and raiding, fiercely resistant to the colonial influence of the continental city states.
