the farming communities beyond the city walls are their jurisdiction.
However, Margraves may overrule their decisions and impose their wills. |

Minor nobility raised by the palsgraves, a burgrave manages a smaller parcel
of land in the palsgrave's territory. They are responsible for providing soldiers
if war is declared. |

The lesser knights of minor rank that are heads of their own households and
are sworn to bring their armies in support of their burgraves. These are considered
the "bannermen". |
A note on women: No women are allowed to hold titles unless their husbands are nobility. A widow is allowed to retain her honorific, but cannot retain the role. The wife of a Palsgrave is given the honorific of "Lady of the City."

After gaining independence from Praemar, the Sylverans abolished all titles in favor of a guild class system. Each of the three guilds - Merchant, Artisan, and Warrior - elects a member to be their representative in the Triumvirate for a 10 year period.
