Tiberi Courthouse
The Tiberi Courthouse, now known as Kæpravedmasa Izubu (trans. House of the Fall of Justice), is located in a series of mountains to the west of Niuus. While originally the structure was simply a regional courthouse used for the trials of criminals in the region, the reign of Andriy Shiroko changed it into something crueler.
Construction of the courthouse began in 672 and was completed in 678, making it one of the oldest still functioning justice houses in the empire. The community around it has kept it in working condition through a combination of renovations and simple maintenance. Several famous criminals have been prosecuted there and sentenced to the nearby prisons or to jails across the empire. However, in the last 20 years it has become extremely famous due to the focus Emperor Andriy put on it, specifically the area around the courthouse.
Andriy became fascinated by the cliffs approximately half a kilometer away and with his focus on capitol punishment began using the location more and more for high level crimes no matter where the defendant was originally from or where the crime took place. He reinstated a trial known as The Fall, in which a person's guilt or innocence was determined by whether or not they survived being thrown off of the cliff. Prisoners were housed in the Kæpravedmasa Izubu and then they could choose to have a trial or take the fall. Most chose a trial, but Andriy grew bored of this.
He began sentencing any he deemed sufficiently guilty to being beaten in the Courthouse and then thrown from the cliff. If a person was guilty of a smaller crime, he would order that they be thrown from the roof of the building itself.
After Andriy's death and the ascension of his nephew, Taras Shiroko, the building has maintained a mixed reputation. Some in the population still see it as a house of justice while others view it as nothing more than a place of death and punishment.
