Okenumi
Svante Shiroko II created the first major sea based Ilyannoi, which he used to conquer the island territories to the north of the Eoion Empire. Since his death, they have continued with this goal. Their main directive has been to secure the coastlines of the main continent and the islands, along with the waterways between them. This has made the area extremely inhospitable to those come near the coast, Svantei Gansen. While a few people still live there, most are chased away by the creatures.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Okenumi are generally colored in varying shades of blue or blue-green. They posses a total of four limbs. Each limb is composed of a shoulder, knee, and ankle joint with four toes at the end and webbing between each clawed toe. Their claws are extremely hard and able to slice through wooden boats with ease.
Each okenumi's head is approximately 1 meter in length, excluding the horns, very similar to the qilin type that each new ruler makes. These horns are usually 0.5m long. Two are placed just behind the eyes and another two can be found along the jaw. Each set points toward the creature's back. They have two rows of teeth, with 26 at the front and 20 behind those.
A long tail assists with both balance and swimming direction. This tends to have several fins on it, with a sheer membrane and small claws on the ends. Their entire bodies are covered in hard scales.
They are mammals and must return to the surface at regular intervals to breath, which is done through their mouths. This time duration varies depending on the maturity of the creature, with younger ones needing to surface every two hours and older okenumi able to hold their breath for upwards of three to four hours.
Genetics and Reproduction
They are capable of reproduction at age 4 and can continue to reproduce until death. The average cycle for gestation is one year and a litter consists of one to three offspring.

Geographic Origin and Distribution
They tend to live in the deep water between the Eoion empire and the northern islands. Sometimes, they will come onto land if they notice a threat on the coastline.

Okenumi are highly intelligent, able to work in groups and communicate efficiently with one another. They can also understand simple spoken words. The Shiroko Dynasty can communicate with them as they do all Ilyannoi.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
They have excellent eyesight under water, with a membrane over their large eyes in order to protect them from the salt of the water. Through the use of echolocation and clacking their tongue against the back row of teeth, they are able to communicate with one another and determine the location of allies. enemies, and food.
