Ezray Lohdan

Ezray Lohdan

Ezray Lohdan was born in 893 to a branch of the Lohdan family, a semi-powerful noble house in Yzel, who were primarily concerned with the running of the Kumeza Tran The group's main focus was to defend Yzel against the Ilyannoi that patrolled the southern border of Eoion, Yzel's northern neighbor. Within the Kumeza Tran, the Lohdan and Tsere families went back and forth in a years long power struggle for control of the unit.    As his family was mostly concerned with the day to day military operations of the group rather than their overarching plans, Ezray was educated in this. He spent his childhood bouncing between military encampments in the north and the main military schools in Leowit, located in central Yzel.    In 915, at the age of twenty-two, Ezray began his work as an officer under his grandfather and other high ranking officials within the Kumeza Tran after his formal education was finished. From them, he learned all they knew about the Ilyannoi and how to defeat them. He also developed a close relationship with the people who lived near the northern border whose villages often gave the Kumeza Tran supplies and assistance. Over the next seventeen years, he rose through the ranks until he was promoted to the head of the unit by King Petrae Oida. However, a schism had been forming within the Yzelian military due to how independent the Kumeza Tran often acted due to their distance from the capital and main command.    When the Sicru Battles broke out in 933, Ezray had been in charge for just under a year. He was ordered to leave the north and assist Gehn Sei, the leader of the main Yzelian military, in the south, along the Sicru river where most of the fighting was taking place. However, he refused, believing that Eoion would attack should the Kumeza Tran leave their post.   This resulted in Gehn sending a large unit of Yzelian soldiers to force Ezray to comply. The two generals clashed and Lohdan utilized his subordinates' familiarity with the terrain, along with the assistance of villages in order to hold off the better equipped and more structured Yzelian forces.   He was able to drive Sei out, but when the Sicru battles were finished, many in the south wanted Ezray executed for treason. In the end, he and Sei met to reach an agreement. Ezray was able to bring an end to Yzelian control over the Kumeza Tran, renaming them the Daji to show their independence from the main military structure. In return, his family, along with the Tseres, took nearly full financial responsibility for the unit.   Ezray lived out the next decade leading the Daji. However, in 945, at the age of 52, he was wounded during an expedition and returned to the Daji headquarters. While being treated, he wrote the first account of proof regarding the existence of the Cannibal Healer, who had treated him during the initial injury. However, despite the Healer's work, Ezray died from an infection in his wounds three months later.   He was given a hero's burial and is still celebrated among the northern people.

Hi there! You may not know me, but I am the sponsor of the Great Leader of Their People Summer Camp Prompt this year! Since you wrote this article, I would like to know, would you mind me reading it aloud on my Twitch channel next week? I have a lot to get through so it helps to do it live while people watch. If not, it's okay! Not agreeing to be streamed definitely does not put you at any disadvantage for winning in my eyes. Please respond swiftly by replying here (make sure to click REPLY under my comment or I won't be notified), message me on my World Anvil profile page, Discord, or anywhere else you find me online.   Thanks again! Whatever you choose, God bless and much success! <3

Thanks for permission! I think you reached out in discord. If not, it's fine too. A couple of people did misunderstand my ask. I was initially requesting permission for me to read the articles myself, but if you'd like to give it a go live on my stream (or send in a recording) I'd be honored! Simply let me know. Still, if you can't or would rather me read it, I'll try to let you know when I plan to stream in case you'd like to check it out. You can also always watch streams after the fact on my YouTube channel if you aren't able to make it or prefer not to be there live. :)

You reading it is perfectly fine! I'd like to make some grammatical edits before then. I'll let you know when those are finished (should be by the end of today). The content will remain the same. 8/16 or 8/18, around 8pm would work best for me as I would like to hear my article read :)

I'd advise not to edit before the judging period is over. Everything is okay. There are quite a few errors I'm finding in other people's articles and even my own. Summer Camp shenanigans and rushing about, it's to be expected! I'm not at all a harsh judge.   I appreciate you giving permission and will look out for you to in the PM streams. Be sure to shout yourself out in chat so that I can get to your article. Have a blessed one! <3

I'm very sorry. I did not see this message earlier and fixed the errors. I understand if this results in disqualification. However, I have a copy saved of the way it was and can reverse all changes if necessary.

It's okay. Mainly the World Anvil officials who said they're looking at the last-edited timestamps. It's okay. I will still read through it, if you don't mind. :)

I don't mind at all! Thank you very much!
