Alle Ladib
Born to a marine merchant in 960, Alle was raised to take over the family business from her mother. They were predominantly grain dealers and had a great deal of business between Leowit and Padenet. She grew up hearing stories about the disappearance of Erawit several centuries before and became fascinated by the sea reclaiming land.
Instead of following her mother into the merchant business, Alle instead went to Leowit to study the seas as a sailor would. While she had learned some of this due to the family shipping their wares, she was not aware of the intricacies in terms of what a sailor would know specifically. While in school, she became part of a group whose purpose was to find hidden treasures at sea, a passion that fueled her desire to explore what was below the waves rather than ride ships above them.
Upon her graduation in 989, she joined a guild of explorers who had sponsored the apprentice group of which she had a part during her schooling. She had not forgotten the stories of Erawit and was determined to find remnants of the island.
In 999, she captained a crew whose purpose was to go in search of the land or return with as many artifacts as possible. Some said Clohdus had taken hold and should not be disturbed, but Alle wanted to know if this was, indeed, true. Had the mad god decided that the island was his alone?
The expedition sailed to the area where the island that housed Erawit had once been. Alle found the sea to be too shallow there and reported her findings to the rest of the guild. This led to another expedition a year later in which Alle found the first evidence of the water receding from the island. She catalogued the emerging coral beds, becoming the first explorer to travel the newly ascended island since its disappearance.
Over the next several decades of her life, she continued to explore, spending most of her time around the beds, keeping track of each new formation. In 1003 she set up a research center on the island that is still in use at present and it was there that she lived the remainder of her life until her death in 1045.
