Orcish Birthday Party

An orcs birthday party used to consist of them being given weapons and then sparring with them. Usually the sparring was completely one sided, and many adult orcs went easy on their children. Other’s did not and raised either bruised and broken children or strong warriors. The strong warriors would attract crowds, so the day of their birth eventually turned into a mini festival. Now the Orcs invite as many other clans and clan-less Orcs as they can host. Some of these birthday celebrations for the more notable orcs are rivalled only by Grimnak Fest.

The sparring is still a part of it, on your birthday you fight your father or mother if you do not have a father. When they are too old to fight, you fight your siblings, if you have none you fight the other orphans. The fights have lost a touch of their brutality these days, and sometimes the fights are choreographed out in advance, these types of fights are usually what you see from the nobility and famous orcs. However, the warrior Orcs do not hold back in their fights, and many an injury has been suffered for both the birthday Orc and their parents, or siblings.

A recent trend is that each guest clan, or in the case of the clan less each group, brings an animal to sacrifice, usually only a few goats are brought and many smaller creatures, but as the notoriety of the Orc increases so do the animal sacrifices. These animals are what make up the feast for the party, and their blood is collected and mixed together with alcohol, creating a bloody cocktail called a Gruz that the Orcs drink until they are very drunk and the party ends. Due to the drunkenness many a fight breaks out, more at the larger parties, and sometimes buildings get burned, but in the morning, they will band together and rebuild or repair any damage they caused.
