Aeryen

Written by Anfareth

Aeryen Nesethal (a.k.a. Aeri by her mother or sister, Aeren by close friends)

Aeryen looks elven, but is half avariel(winged elf), half celestial (archon of some unknown type). She is a healer, able to cure wounds by her will alone, despite her prayers to Sarenrae.   Her parents decided on Aerenwas for a male, and Galerial for a female. They were not expecting twins, something very unusual for the elves in my story world, they named the second of the twins, Aeryen.

Physical Description

Body Features

Light pale skin and wings with feathers of a red\white gradient.

Special abilities

Her hands radiate with a green fire when she heals.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

After their druid mother gave birth to twin sisters, Aeryen and Galerial, she was forced to return to her people, to those that knew her knew not the father, and no one would believe in their celestial ancestry. To most, the children were treated as avariel, winged elves, but to the priests that identified the signs, knew them to be more than that.   With no other family, and the need to support her own, she asked the priests for aid, in return they could train the children in their ways. It was decided that Aeryen would be a Priestess, while Galerial became a Paladin. They both began at a very young age for even an elf, the priests excited to see what the half-celestial could become.   Both of the twins however failed at their trainings at no fault of their own, but their teachers said their faith was too weak. Disappointed with the twin sisters they were both claimed to be Nephilim, the cursed results of the forbidden unions, and not avariel. They were forsaken and outcasted.

Gender Identity

Female

Education

At a young age she became a priestess of Sarenrae, but failed in her training despite having the ability to cure wounds. Her mentors claimed her faith was too weak, and she began to suspect being a priestess was not her calling.   She trained with druids and excelled when it concerned alchemy and herbalism, but she could not bond nor sense the powers of nature. Again, she felt as if she failed her teachers, but the druids claimed her gift of healing was not one she should give up on.

Morality & Philosophy

Aeryen attempts to the best of her ability to be a pacifist, but she knows when it is time to go on the defensive with her spear.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

She is driven by the selfless act to heal those in need, to cure any form of disease, with no monetary gain.

Social

Religious Views

She still tries to follows the ways of Sarenrae, but feels scorned from her early trainings as a priestess.

Author's Notes

After playing Anfareth a second time in 3rd Edition D&D, he was killed in a very difficult fight and did not accept resurrection as he earned his warrior's death and place in Valhalla. So, I was challenge to play something very different, and came up with a much needed support character, Aeryen.   I got inspired to make this character by modeling her after Aerith Gainsborough from Final Fantasy VII, and she has a Spear that is meant to look like her first weapon, the Guard Stick, but with a spear tip at one end.   Her healing fire was inspired by playing Aeryen in City of Heroes\Champions Online.
