Monster Slayers
Monster slayers do just as their job description entails. They are trained in some respect, to find and hunt monsters, answering to village or city calls to end unnaturally bad forces not quite wrought by governmental or criminal common powers. These may includes curses, dark smaller spirits, halflings, and of course common "monsters" like ghouls, trolls, dragons, or vampires. As such its mostly a path taken more in locations like the continent of Basillua where monsters are rampant and the nobles too proud. Lands like Kayotia have few enough troubles that the states merely contest the monsters with their own war detachments.
Career
Career Progression
Virtually the greatest steps that can be taken are in merely one's reputation. Earning fame and fulfilling good work, and being marked a hero, can bolster the price and call for one's name in the service. They may even find themselves eventually falling into another career, cultivated by a military force or greater position based on their fighting against the more arcane. As per normal, some have also formed larger uniforms around it, like a Hunter's Guild that tries to sell itself like an entire mercenary group with the sort of order and esteem that gets more attention from nobility and higher churches instead of the smaller villages.
Perception
Social Status
Mixed. While often seen heroic at a distant perspective, the reality is that hunters struggle between fair prices, and vicious accusations. Some also mistreat them as mere bounty hunters, and will insist to hire or frame a more civil target for execution, and those that are tricked or accept bring the reputation back to one of potential murder - if not for the other accusation, that they make or bait in their own monster bounties. It will forever be a job in a gray area between glory, heroism, and chance of exploits or doubts.
Demographics
The demographic is largely human, and for humans. Akrin and Ghothe people especially tend to lean more in this culture, whereas its more rare for K'mosian, and Orcs are less likely to make it a career nor call upon one. There have however been instances of a few reketta, halfling, and sfixian proffesional slayers, but it is rare.
