Yeoune

The island nations of Van'Gende is defined by those who travel through it's calm waters and high mountains. Few more exemplify this than the people known as Yeoune. Originally hailing from the nation of Estrella during the time of the Court of Miracles, the Yeoune were a people created in secret alongside the Naren and Cambistra. The Yeoune were created from the most loyal servants of the court. Their purpose and strength was in stealth and subterfuge. Tasked with both gaining information about dissenting peoples far and wide, the Yeoune had been gifted with guile as well as a keen sense of the Wind Tides that dictated travel by ship. They were myths among the other folk, and those that saw them were rarely around long enough to tell the tale, but for reasons you may not expect.   While those in the Court of Miracles had thought they had chosen wisely in their newest creation. They had in fact played right into the hands of a group of shrewd and patient rebels who had infiltrated the court, and were biding their time for just such a moment. The Yeoune as they were soon to be called, quickly became a network of spies, smugglers, and rogues who freed numerous peoples and ferried those folk to the free islands of Van'Gende   Eventually their betrayal was found out. The Yeoune attempted to use their abilities of stealth and guile to hide from the court that had blessed them with such power. For a time, they were successful. This was not to last, as the Court leveraged all of it's power to punish the affront to their power. All Yeoune were then cursed to emanate a brilliant light. Though beautiful in it's way, this change made it impossible for them to hide from the vengeful court. With no other alternative, the Yeoune fled the lands of Estrella. They were never to return.   Thankfully for them, they were welcomed onto the shores of Van'Gende. The survivors of the escape, though small in number, began to form a tight knit society. Greatful for what they saw as an escape from certain death, the Yeoune became valuable contributors to the island nations. In present day, the Yeoune now thrive, and are considered citizens of Van'Gende rather than any part of their origin among the other races of Estrella.
