The very presence of Shu Yang makes students and teachers tremble. Shu Yang is a teacher at Taru International Academy, and Master of Transformation. She is responsible for designing some of the curriculum at the school and shares the responsibility of managing the Azure Dragon Clan with another teacher. , She is a powerful magi skilled in several practises and Master of Transformation. According to rumours at Taru International Academy, Shu Yang, Alice Monaghan, and Lo Chen are the strongest teachers at the school. Despite this, the Master of Defence is Nekhii. Some say this is due to controversy of selecting a Cantari teacher for defence of a Taruan school. Many students who are not Cantari themselves do not trust Cantari teachers. As Shu Yang is also a very stern teacher and doesn't try to play any popularity games, she is often villanised by others, and doesn't care to defend herself on such matters. This makes other Cantari teachers suspicious of Shu Yang. No one really knows where her loyalties lie.

While Taru is self-governing, The Cantari Empire claims the territory as theirs, and that Taruan citizens are Cantari citizens. Some Taruan people believe in this, having fought the Federation in the The Second Armada. Other Taruan represented the Federation and fought brothers and sisters fighting for Cantari. The war ended when Lo Chen and Qing miraculously managed to fight of both opponents for Taruan independence. Despite the victory, political agendas from the Federation and Cantari are continuing. Shu Yang's personal history is unknown to even the most cunning and sleuth teachers and administrators. Even Cantari teachers are uncertain of where Shu Yang may have been born in, which is unusual as most accent, dialects and mannerisms can give some inclination.

Education

Shu Yang doesn't mention her childhood education, though holds many certifications that are recognised by the Council of Magi and states such as The Federation. Many presume her earlier education was very strict. As all magi in Cantari must volunteer for the army, it is presumed she has had very strict army training.
