July is going to be a very busy month for me, as it will be the final goodbye to a school I've worked with in the last three years, and a class I've had for the past two years. I expect it may even be a bit emotional, especially as both their teachers are leaving so their final year at kindergarten will be a very different experience. They're really great kids and I'm honestly going to miss them. After that, I'll need to be rushing to sort out visas and paperwork quickly to stay in the country a bit longer until the dogs' paperwork is finished and will find out a rough date on when I'll be allowed to return to my home country. That's going to be a little tough, but it will be nice to have the warmth and positivity of Summer Camp 2021 to push me along :)
So to answer this question first...
iv. How much are you aiming to complete?
I'll be aiming for a happy Bronze. If I achieve that, I'll be very satisfied. But all in all, I pledge to participate as well as I can feasibly and engage with the bright WorldAnvil folks :) I hope we can all make our targets and goals!
i. Which project are your worldbuilding efforts tied to?
I will be focusing on Sea Hears Project, which the primary goal is to create a working visual novel. Situated in
Taru International Academy, players can choose one of seven main characters to play as and will go through their character archs alongside the main arch of the school year. Players balance their characters' stats, grades and friendship with others through carefully made decisions.
ii. What world are you working on?
Therefore, I'll be working on the world of
Gaia, which is where Sea Hears is based. It's a science fantasy world with a focus on many oceans as well as the continents. If the prompts don't quite work well for Sea Hears, then I'll use Ancia, Yukata or some other hidden world I haven't revealed yet.
iii. Which area of the world(s) are you working on?
Right now I'm working on writing up Cantari, which is a very important country (and continent) that impacts students at the academy, so prompts to create off shoot articles would be great. It'd also be great if the prompts could give me the chance to write about the Southern Isles, which is where
Shui Ling is from, or the Northern Isles which are the centre of a plot point far in the future of the visual novel. The island cultures are very interesting for me. I also need to further explain the wars that have happened, especially concerning
Taru , and I still need to write up some of the main characters.
v. When will you write?
Being a teacher in the particular community I'm in, you never really known how much spare time you'll have in the mornings or the evenings. I'll try and use a bit of my lunch break, the mornings and if I can, some of the evenings. My schedule will radically change once I've left school so it'll be a case of analysing the chaos and seeing where it may give way for writing :)
vi. Who is your support network?
Gregathor is my partner of seven years and is an absolute rock. While many may not yet know about this fellow sage, he was the one who introduced me to World Anvil in the first place and encouraged me to bring life to Sea Hears Project as my main creative endeavour. Greg has a lot of creative ideas himself and we're often talking together about our worlds. Our dogs like to try and get involved too which is actually what inspired a trading game connected to Sea Hears Project!
Of course, the WorldAnvil community is strong and a great rock too. The Guild-Hall is a cosy place on the WorldAnvil Discord and I try to pop in when I can.
Sea Hears Project has our own Discord too if you'd like to say hello and provide support!
I also want to give a shout out to my two
Patreon subscribers, who have been absolutely amazing. Thank you for your amazing support!
To all WorldAnvil friends - Gayau! Jiā yóu! Don't stop the engine, add oil!
I wish you all the fun with summercamp!
Cheers Jacob!
