Wavy Trees

Tall plants with sturdy black bark. Wavy Trees are named after their blue leaves, which sway and move in a waving motion. Bright orange fruits grow on the ends of its branches, and remain nutritious and delicious up to three hours after being removed from the tree.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Wavy Trees are made up of a collection of thick roots that can easily burrow and tunnel through metal, a tall, stiff trunk covered by black bark with a rubbery texture, and several branches emerging from the top 25% of the trunk. The branches are covered in blue, floppy leaves that are covered in a slick substance, making grasping onto the branches difficult. The ends of the branches are tipped with brightly colored fruit, each one resembling a pear. The tree will regrow lost fruit after about a day, and it takes a handful of hours for a Wavy Tree Fruit to fully ripen.

Genetics and Reproduction

Towards the end of its two hundred year lifespan, a Wavy Tree will drop its fruit to the ground. The fruit will shatter if they hit a hard surface, spilling seeds onto the ground. Small insects pollinate the Wavy Tree through its leaves. The leaves are covered in a slick substance that gives off a faint aroma that insects find irresistible. The substance will stick to the bodies of the insects, which will inseminate other Wavy Trees once the insect lands on said tree's leaves.

Growth Rate & Stages

Seeds from a Wavy Tree fruit that land on a solid surface will begin to take root in a matter of days. A sapling will emerge from the ground in a weeks time. After a full month, the tree will have reached its full height and will begin producing fruit.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The tree gains all the energy it needs from water and the sun. If a Wavy Tree is denied either for too long, it will begin to wither. After a few days, the bark ceases being ridged and all the leaves fall off. It crumples under its own weight after a week of being deprived of water and/or sunlight.
