Junkaran

This continent was once a large super city, one that probably housed countless millions, if not billions, of individuals. Now, after millions of years later, the continent is a rust covered scrap heap. Most of those ancient buildings still stand, a testament to the ingenuity and brilliance of the Ancients. Even the tall skyscrapers that pierce the clouds above are still standing, if not in a state of disrepair and decay.

Geography

Like the rest of the world, made up mostly of cast off debris from an ancient civilization. However, Junkaran is famous for its many lakes and the large towers that cover its landscape. The closer one gets to the center of the continent, the more one finds taller buildings, each one capable of housing its own ecosystem. Sinkholes filled with water dot the landscape, full of rubble or the toppled remains of ruined structures. Overall, the continent resembles a post apocalyptic mega city.

Fauna & Flora

Most of the plant and animal life that are indigenous to this continent specialize in lurking in and around the ancient buildings or in the many lakes that dot its landscape. There are a handful of creatures on this continent that deserve special mention. Canopy Sawjaws are one of the alpha predators, leaping between buildings and especially tall plants to track prey. The lower jaws of these beasts possess rotating saw blades that, while making it impossible to close their mouths, make short work of anything it catches. Wavy Trees can be found by bodies of water, something that Junkaran has plenty of. Be it the lakes that have submerged whole blocks of this ancient city, or the occasional sinkhole, Wavy Trees are sure to be nearby. Named after the movements their leaves make in the wind, these tall, black trees produce brightly colored, orange fruit. These fruits are edible and delicious, though they only remain that way a couple hours after being plucked from its branches. Scamperjacks are small, scrawny creatures that occupy an opportunistic niche. Too frail to tackle most creatures head on, they instead feed on the leftovers of other creatures. Spotting a Scamperjack or two lurking about is a good way to determine if a predator is nearby, since the monkey-like creatures stalk them, waiting for the predator to fell a creature so they can pick at the remains.

Natural Resources

Besides the plentiful amount of scrap metal and the fresh water found in the lakes, Junkaran has a few resources that few other continents have. The tallest skyscrapers close to the center of Junkaran have a few materials that make the dangerous journey to reach them worth it. Some of these tall buildings still have power, the lights still on and the automatic doors... somewhat working. These devices are powered by bio-mechanical organisms called Cordeels. Living organisms designed by the Ancients to power their structures, these eel-like creatures generate great amounts of electricity. Requiring very little to survive, these creatures are sought after for many applications, including powering electronics. At the very top of the tallest skyscrapers, found in the middle of the continent, one can find Pureloy. Unlike the overwhelming majority of other metals that can be found, Pureloy hasn't been touched (or at least, as effected by) rust and the entropy of time. Extremely durable and lightweight, Pureloy is highly sought after by those who understand the value of a metal that isn't made frail from rust or the passing of time.
