Droidmongers
Centered in Core 8, the Droidmongers are a consortium of corporations whose primary business activity is automation, droid and robot manufacture, and AI generation.
They are also some of the many corporations across Core 7, 8 and 9 who research Flexsteel and its many uses for manufacture.
The Droidmongers are supported from business across all the Cores. Customers range from political organizations and even rumors of connections to syndicates such as Plantagenet or the El Río Cartel.
Neutral to the Core ... for a Price
During the Core Wars, the Droidmongers played their part. It was here that the 50 million WarDroids were manufacutred, programmed as per customer request, then shipped off to various theaters of war. This helped the Droidmongers remain neutral, or as neutral as possible, in the conflict while it burned its way across Core space.
Sine the Core Wars came to an end, the need for WarDroids dried up. The Droidmongers have shifted their business lines back to more profitable ventures such as mining, security, and scout droids. AI research and generation have always been profitable, and continue to be so.
However, there are rumors of back door dealings in decommissioned WarDroids. These are WarDroids that suffered from a flaw in their programming that prevented the "decommission - kill" subroutine from working as intended. These WarDroids are snapped up by collectors, syndicates, anyone looking for a reliable bodyguard or enforcer. A few, a rare few, even found a new life among the secretive Scrapjack crews.
