The Lingua

Yeah The Lingua is the ancient, world-defining language of Scalespiral that is often used in spells and rituals. It is said that every word in the Lingua, laced end-to-end, would reveal the true name of Scalespiral, and thus also the full and complete nature of the world. The Lingua is deeply intertwined with mathematics, and can be used to succinctly and accurately describe any natural or unnatural phenomena.
As the Lingua reflects the nature of reality, it can also be used to shape reality. Rituals cast using Lingua literally use the language to shape the raw force of magic and alter reality, so magical users that are involved in such rituals are advised to always triple check their work before casting, and to always consider wether or not the spells need to be cast, or if there is a better solution. In that vein, casters will always check the part of the casting that contains their own name at least once in any group casting, as alterations to the way their name is written in the Lingua can alter their personality and even physical form.
But although the Lingua has the power to shape reality when channeling magic, it is a language like many others, and can be used in the same way.  There are legends that are only told in the Lingua, and bargains struck in the language, lies told and promises kept.  Though it is no one’s native tongue, most sapient creatures in Scalespiral understand at least a few words, and most scholars and magic users can speak it fluently.
