Shadowrun is a role-playing game set in a near-future, fictional, alternate universe in which cybernetics, magic, and fantasy creatures co-exist. Shadowrun combines cyberpunk and high fantasy to create a near future world where technology has advanced beyond our understanding, powerful mega corporations control everyday life, and magic and classical fantasy races have returned to the world.

The game was first published in 1989 by FASA. Much of the history of the game world has now taken place in the past. So naturally, the game has a very "alternate, retro future" feel to it. Ironically, this fact works to the games advantage, giving it a unique feel, even beyond the fantasy elements.

One of the issues the game has had is it has always been bogged down in a rules set that slow and unwieldy with too many moving parts. Who has time for that, right Omae?

In comes Savage Worlds. It's a medium to light crunch system, that offers fast exciting combat, but still maintains the high action feel of the original game. I have cobbled together a rules set a number of adaptations I found online, combined with my own tweaks and additions.
