Maika'i Taverns

A line of generic taverns across Saramoth, prevalent in small town with low population. These taverns carry large quantities of low quality food and drink, and have anywhere between 4 and 24 rooms each. The chain is run by Goblin Mining, Manufacturing, and Shipping inc, and tavern keepers are all company employees. These Taverns ease transportation of goods for the goblin's extensive shipping lines, as well as provide an alternate form of income and a significant influence with small-town governments, establishing themselves as a 'staple of the community'. Goblin Tavernkeepers are experts in trading, wonderful storytellers, and (according to some) specialized operatives in collecting and selling information.

Purpose / Function

The Taverns trade in exotic goods, transporting them to central goblin markets with their regular caravans. They often hire part-time guards to protect their monthly wagons, or explore the local area for new goods to sell. Building new taverns also provides many temporary jobs.   The taverns are also havens for mercenaries or wandering workers. Taverns have become unnoficial employment centers for the communities they are built in, and centers of the shadier sides of village buisness.

History

The taverns were first used in the towns around the Goblin sea, as places for goblins sailors or goods to stay after coming to port. As part of the gobin's buisness stratagem, these taverns have expanded into the farming countryside, and are now scattered through most of Westerel and Saramoth.
