Evylja Organization in Saradon | World Anvil

Evylja

A territory previously under the control of the Eynaseran Empire under the name Q'gunefyr (literally "The Grasp" in Thysa), Evylja ("A Free Land") declared itself in open rebellion to the imperial rule in [YEAR] and has remained in an ongoing war of attrition ever since.

Structure

The rebellious state is currently ruled by de-facto leader Aŧat Evelśeŧîn (/'aθat ɛ'vɛl.ʃɛθɪn/ Ah-thaht Evel-sheh-thin). An elvishman originally born in the Fjaldohren city of Myŧlelume who had served under the empire as a High Warden prior to his declaration of secession. Originally tasked with oversight of the establishment of the Q'iŧym colonies, there has been much debate within the empire itself as to the reasoning behind his rebellion – whether it comes as a result of a simple power grab or if the former general possesses other motivations. As of now, the officially stated purpose has simply been to challenge the dominance of the western empire's rapid expansion.   Though often disparagingly referred to as "Warrior-King" in mocking tones by Einaseran opposition, Evelśeŧîn has certainly made no secret of his presence in any battle, and the force he displays lends credence to his stature as a figurehead. Often thought to be the most proficient warrior within the rebellion, the elf accompanies his soldiers on their less subdued assaults donning a suit of defaced warden's armor and brandishing a nearly comically oversized flanged mace. Crafted of steel and ylinkjen, the weapon was originally a rather normally-sized gift in the form of the custom-made weapons commissioned from the empire's greatest smithies and granted to each High Warden or Sunblessed upon ascent to their positions. The current mace is crafted from the metals of Evelśeŧîn's formerly gifted weapon and the sword of Mykva Ybrot, a late member of the Sunblessed who had been sent overseas to assassinate the rebel leader. He has named the newly-forged weapon "Fser Q'Śtal'ŧan", meaning "Kingmaker."

Military

As Eynasera's first attempt to gain a foothold colony on the large continent of Eletheros, Evylja's population was excessively focused on military personnel and showcased a colonizing force comprised mostly of various volunteers and assigned officers from the imperial military ranks. Though progressive waves of civilians, primarily farmers and artisans, had been intended to make a similar journey and form the basis of the Gunefyrian workforce, official secession was declared following only two waves of civilian migration.   The majority of the individuals which remain within the borders of Evylja, therefore, have received formal military training under the imperial armies, making the territory's open rebellion much more difficult to quell than secessionist leaderships of ages past. While Evelśeŧîn and his cohorts have been militant in disallowing foreign powers, whether aligned with the Einaseran Empire or not, to tread unsupervised on claimed land, they have allowed for a very relaxed policy towards civilians wishing to leave the rebellious territory. Usually bound towards the empire-controlled territory of Q'iŧys (The Legs) to the north, farmers and land-owners are given a lump sum in gold for any property turned over to the de-facto leadership, but are barred from re-entry once they have left the borders. Members of the rebellion's armies, however, are barred from defection on penalty of death.   Though their distance from the empire's headquarters affords the rebels an advantage in strategic mobility and speed, the immense disparity in equipment and soldiers able for fielding leaves Evylja's armies engaging almost entirely in guerrilla tactics.

Foreign Relations

The state holds a tenuous relation with the Durranian Empire, who trades high-quality weaponry and abundant food supplies to the rebels without outright declaring or denying their support, hoping to weaken the Ivskian empire without the risk of an all-out war.
