The Curse of Vampirism

Though it is largely unknown how the curse of vampirism came to be, it is general consensus that dark and foul powers were at play during its conception.   Described by the hunters as a curse, and by most vampires as a blessing. The vampires curse was described as follows by a scientist of the Inquisition during the 12th century (modernized):   Hallowed be thy name, our life and saviour, our light and our guidance. Forgive me for the reports I must divulge. It is, I promise, for the greater good.   A specimen of the dark has been captured by brother Peregrine and his troop of devoted Inquisitors. I will try to describe, to the best of my ability, the curse that has befallen one of gods creatures.   The specimen shows no remorse for the sacrilegious acts it has committed. Though the specimen appears to be a human male most of the time, I am of no illusion that it is a devil. I will henceforth simply refer to it as 'The Specimen'.   The specimen possesses super-human speeds and strengths, easily destroying the shackles which first held it when it was first brought here.   The Specimen displays sharper teeth, and a clawed hand when feeling threatened. The ability to call forth these supernatural abilities seem to dissipate when denied the blood of good innocent god-fearing folk. I apologize, yes, the only sustenance the creature seems to require is sanguine fluids.   We have tried to feed it the blood of animals, but to no avail.   Its condition worsens as the days pass and I'm afraid we will not have long to study it, should we continue to deny it sustenance.   The Specimen display average levels of intelligence, though somewhat lacking in emotional intelligence and morality.   I have inquired as to the possibility of extracting a small amount of blood from myself, to keep the specimen useful for longer. Although quartermaster Clement promised to have my head on a stake should I attempt such an endeavor.   Alas, the Specimen will perish, we have learned much. Final experiments will conclude with methods of termination. Brother Peregrine has personally claimed the honor of banishing this foul creature to the after-life, if such a thing exists for devils.   Reports will follow. - Physiologist Archibald of the Inquisition   Several reports followed, describing the ways to dispatch of vampires, though not all were as conclusive.
