The Revellers Ethnicity in Sands of Saraya | World Anvil

The Revellers

A running theme in Saraya is scarcity, and a need to work together to survive. Thus most people are inclined to be nonsharing and unwasteful. The least likely thing to do is over-indulge.   This was true for a long time, until the Revellers grew out of a desire to live in the moment. To ration food, water or money so that they can extend their life is the exact opposite of what the Revellers want out of their life. A reveller wastes no moment not indulging in physical pleasures. Drugs, eating rich and other temporary pleasures are their focus.   Much like the first, a reveller is almost always a person almost always rich beyond worry, or otherwise short-lived. The lifestyle is simply unsustainable for anyone else.

Culture

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

As in the example set by Kehmet, any reveller will share and exchange their riches with another. The physical pleasures that one brings to such a trade include sex and drugs, and are almost seen as competitions as to who can give the most, or tire the other one out first.

Common Taboos

One of the few things a reveller can do to be frowned upon in their already tiny society is to refuse to share with another reveller. They are already too few in number to find many to entertain the tradition, so ignoring another's request for a night of revelry is refusing a once in a while type of celebration.

Historical figures

The first of the revellers was Kehmet Gadam, son of a nobleman from Gorgoth, who grew tired of responsibilities and living minimalistic knowing they had money to do otherwise. He slew his father after a Thrikk binge, and has become one of the few Honey-Bloods that can afford to control his condition. In addition to drugs and blood, he also partakes of exotic foods and drinks, and invites any who follow his example into his home.
