The Order of the Chaussers
From the term Witch Chasers, the Chaussers, under the guidance of the Oculus, seek to reign in and codify all magic on Sanctum. Their quest is not evil, they just believe that the turmoil of magic that caused the Flooding, feeds the Malestrom and is abused by Sorcerers and Warlocks.
Structure
The Order is governed by the Oculus, a group of Diviner wizards who use extremely powerful magical artifacts known as the Acis to detect the use of magics from Sorcerers and Warlocks at great distance and to a decree of accuracy.
These leads are then investigated by Inquisitor teams, usually a Ranger and a Cleric of an allied faith or perhaps a Wizard in training and if the source is deemed dangerous (most are) then a team of Retrievers is sent out to retrieve the specimen and return it the Oculus tower for study.
Public Agenda
They believe that unchecked magic users are as dangerous as wild beasts and monsters and therefore must be removed from society to prevent tragedies such as the Flooding.
Assets
They have access to a sizable army of diverse troops, the movement capabilities of what they can acquire from the Badariel Empire and access to magical items.
History
The Order was formed by a charismatic elven warrior named Lorakana who fought the chaos of the Malestrom and destruction of the Flooding and in her matron age founded the Oculus for her disciples to learn from her teachings and combat these problems before they become catastrophes.
