Moiyele

Short introduction

Moikíli (sg.: moiyele) are what gave the Moiyeli Swamplands its name because moikíli, that is giant scorpions, appear nowhere else on the continent of Erana but here. This is quite remarkable since the underground lands are teeming with all kinds of invertebrates which grow to remarkable sizes, but the Moiyele are the biggest and live exclusively in this part of Erana. They get up to four metres long and are pitchblack in colour. In sunlight they glow blueish while in moonlight they glow greenish. Their main weapon are their pincers which are large in relation to their body compared to smaller scorpion species. They also got a stinger at the end of their flexible upward curved tail which they wield with deadly accuracy.
The Moiyele show some sexual dimorphism with the females being bigger than the males, but the males having bigger pincers. Their eyesight is quite bad. They mainly track their prey by sense of smell or sensing vibrations with their pincers which they press against the floor to pick the vibrations up. They live solitarily and only meet for mating. The male performs some kind of dance showing off their pincers. The male and female part ways after mating. The females place the eggs somewhere save and stay closeby. After hatching the young skorpions climb on the mothers back and are carried around until they reach a certain age. They then all head off into different directions.
Moyele can not be tamed or domesticated. They also cannot be formed bonds with. The only relationship possible with them is a predator-prey relationship. There are other species of giant scorpions out there though which can be tamed and have been domesticated. This is especially true for the underground lands where they get used by different Luak societies as well as some Kubolen societies.
