The Spellbinders' Society

The Spellbinders' Society is a an association of enchanters, scrollscribes and other magical artisans. The Society has its roots in The Middle Kingdoms, but has a also developed a strong presence in the subcontinent of Merthos due to the presence of the The Residuum Road.

Resources

The Society supplies its sworn members with training, knowledge and tools to further their respective crafts. Senior members are expected to impart some of their knowledge to the younger generations, though trade secrets are still respected to a degree.   The trade requires significant amounts of Residuum, the medium which binds magic into mundane objects. As such, the Spellbinders' Society makes sure to foster good relations with caravan owners who have access to this precious commodity. Higher ranking members have access to Residuum at guild-sponsored prices.

Rules

The Spellbinders' Society upholds a standard of quality to foster respect and certain exclusivity to the craft. The Society expressly forbids research into, and the creation of magical items which bind demons, the souls of the dead or other morally dubious and potentially dangerous sources of power.

Merthos branch

Though primarily based in The Middle Kingdoms, The Spellbinders' Society has founded guildhouses and a strong presence in several great cities on the subcontinent of Merthos:
  • Gorstein
  • Griston
  • Kernhold
  • They have expressed strong interest in establishing a presence in Fel Sathyn, the major producer of Residuum. They have so far been rebuked by the elven realm, who are wary of allowing such foreign entities to settle in their cities.
