Neateia
Neateia, The Lover in Red is the god of passion, love and beauty. They are the patron of sorcerers, prostitutes and and affairs. Their symbol is a lock of red hair within a pendant.
It is said that Neateia enjoys roaming the world of mortals. They can take the form of any race or gender, but their avatar is invariably of red hair and beautiful to the senses. Others say that the love god instead possesses one of their devoted followers, which can last for but a fleeting moment or for days at a time.
Regardless, such escapades are quickly brought to an end as the ever-fickle god grows bored and finds new romping grounds. The appearance and quick departure of the love god inevitably result in disappointed admirers, ruined marriages and in some cases children, who are born with divine blood in their veins.
Neateia is singlehandedly the cause of the popular stereotype, which says that red-haired individuals are passionate and unpredictable lovers.
Dogma
Neateia is first and foremost a god of passion. Artists and performers who allow themselves to be swept by tides of emotion are held in great favor by the deity. Neateia's followers are expected to foster romance of all kind where it is lacking. Courtesans and other lovers for hire are favored by them, though they shun those who reduce lovemaking to a simple act of flesh. Beauty is another important aspect of Neateia, who looks favorably upon all that care for their looks, and present themselves with confidence. Loveless marriage, prudishness and apathy are anathema to the Lover in Red.
