We're a'chasing the Queen
We're a'chasing the Queen is a folk-song/travel ballad commemorating the flight of Queen Feywil during the Calds' Rebellion.
Jeol, then Dux of Talhorn, was sent by the rebels to chase and capture Feywil - the rightful Queen of the Welds. This was of the utmost importance to the rebellion, who were seeking to establish their own claimant as legitimate. However, the Dux seemed unable to catch the Queen's party, and ended up joining her forces as she fled into his lands. It was strongly suspected that the pursuit was not hotly followed, and that the Dux had always been intending to 'escort' the Queen to the safety of his land, and join her side.
Jeol's 'loyal treachery' (deceiving the rebels into thinking he was with them) earned him a heroic status, and the song is sung from the perspective of one of his cavalrymen who understands that the goal is to herd her, not capture her. There are two common verses, a third patriotic Talhorn verse which is less often heard outside the Duxia, and numerous folk verses, including the usual range of bawdy, absurd, and some which turn it into a romantic song for young men to woo ladies.
