Elosi Powered Braces

Among the many mysterious technologies rumoured to be harboured in the Kingdom of Eyoit, travellers speak of gloves or braces worked like a clock, that allow diminutive Elosi to work harder and stronger than a trained Tetra or Alder.   These 'powered braces' seem to allow significant increases in output for crafters, as well as a significantly easier job - and thus faster production - for manual labourers. No Elosi has ever been reported with such a device outside of Eyiot, so it is assumed that their are either a very new technology, or specifically guarded by the Eyiot authorities.

Utility

Within the Kingdom of Eyiot, the powered braces are a vital tool in both manual labour, and in the skilled (but heavy) manufacturing trades. By storing up power when the user swings, digs, etc., and then releasing it alongside the power exerted by the user, it can achieve three- or four-times greater strength. This makes every action easier, holes are dug faster, and metal objects of greater size can be worked faster and easier.   Primarily, this is used to allow otherwise weak Elosi smiths to mine, forge, and smith stronger metals than they would otherwise be able to - allowing the Eyiot to maintain powerful units of mounted and foot soldiers in plate tough enough to withstand Tetran and Alderi weapons.   More recently, however, powered braces have also been used to explore the smelting of strong but light metals - requiring tremendous effort to successfully work. These may have applications for carts, barges, and other methods of transport which must bear heavy loads, without becoming too heavy to move effectively.   Given the form in which the energy is released, they have no benefit for finer forms of craft, where dexterity, or pure skill, are the determinant of the final product.

Manufacturing

Though unknown outside of the Kingdom of Eyiot, the mechanism relies on the clockwork mechanisms of the Elosi, combined with arrays of small and efficient flywheels housed in the upper arm of the mechanism. Energy is stored in these flywheels when the gauntlet is retracted, and transferred through the gauntlet as it is extended, and the user strikes their target.
