!asasherathe

!asasherathe (Lit. "the dry place" formerly known as Kakelshrathe, the place of two rocks) is an abandoned city.   Founded during the middle of divided kingdom period around 300 NG, the city prospered, being a central exporter of sugarcane and clay goods. Sometime around 50 KG the water levels of the Oasis was noticed to be dropping. At first this was assumed a slightly normal ebb in the water supply, and it would stabilize by the next rain season. By summer of 51 KG the water level was even less. By 60 KG the aquafir was completely dry, and by then almost all of the city's citizens left.   The city has been raided by looters over the years, and has been used as a rest point for travelers between Ulkakel and Relton, but there are no permanent residents.

Investigations

Because of poltical factioning and general incompitence, a full investigation dind't get oof the ground until a full four years later.. A team fo geologists went to the site, but didn't find any conclusive evidence of the cause of the drought. There have been a few more investigations, even more recently in the republic, but none have successfully found a reason for the drought. The phenomenon has not happened since.

Theories of Cause

There have been many theories of what caused the drought, though none has an\y strong evidence to back them up.   Water draining Some speculate that the water supply was actually part of another aquafir of Ulkakel, the next nearby city, with the aquifir of ulkakel being lower down. This seems unliklel   Thirst plant Others have speculated that a thirst plant artifact somehow ended up in the aquafir, draining it. No such artifact has been found. This has been further explained as possibly it being moved after the fact by animals between the time of the last exodus and the investigations, some 4 years later.
