Diary thoughts

"...the townsfolk are beginning to accept our family, and our quirks, more readily than in the past. Almost as if they think, 'yes they're an odd bunch, but they're our odd bunch.' They pay more mind to Ezekiel and his addiction than anything I am doing..." -Anna Kendrick   "...I fear for this sickness in my brother. He is so determined that through his gambling, he will win renown for our family. He doesn't see that we don't want or need that kind of attention. We have done well enough without great amounts of money, our ancestors have paved the way for us to make do in the world. He is out there now as I document this, spending away every penny he doesn't have. I fear what might happen when his debts grow too large..." - Anna Kendrick   "...And thus we are tasked with guarding his soul, until such a time as it can be destroyed or sent back to his maker..." - Christine Kendrick   "...Felicia had watched the townspeople destroy her mother, and not a one spoke for her, but even so they watched with fear- it was the judge who lit the fire with an evil gleam in his eye. Felicia vowed she would seal his fate for the crimes against her mother, but she could not know then how atrocious his crime truly were. She waited and waited. Her siblings began to prosper in the town, first her brother married and then her sister, and then she. Nearly fifteen years after her mother's death Felicia finally had the means to take down the judge. But what she found was more than she had bargained for. Judge Danvers had sold his soul to demons -not quite the devil that he accused several women of fornicating with-, but a sort of the worst kind. He made a deal- to never age and to be powerful against all women, unless he broke the contract. If that happened then the demon would be allowed to possess his body and soul. The judge agreed to the deal and signed the contract, what he missed was the part that said the demon could reside inside his body... to oversee that the contract was not broken. Whence finding this out, Felicia knew she needed help, more than her brother and sister could provide. Kate and she wrote letters to eleven other women, friends of their mother they kept in contact with, who were also practiced in the craft. On the next full moon, all thirteen gathered to begin the demon banishing, and to collect revenge on the judge. The judge was taken quietly from his home, no need for anyone to know what was going to take place. John, Felicia's brother, tied the judge to a tree that had grown in the place of Katherine's death. The ritual to part demon from man is a rather horrible one, as it usually destroys the one needing to be saved, though in this instance, with all the judge's sins, no one was over-wrought with grief. They were able to pull the demon from the judge's body, but it brought forth his soul as well, twined together so demon and soul were one. Instead of being able to banish the demon back to where he came, they had to bind him, deep in a well that was then locked and bound with several spells. The judge's body was burned and the ashes scattered in several bodies of water. The binding ritual must needs be renewed every ten years or the demon/soul will be released and wreak havoc on the world again. And thus this is how we came to be tasked with guarding his soul, until such a time as it can be destroyed or sent back to his maker..." - Christine
