Feel the Burn

World Ember 2020

Last year I didn't participate in World Ember; I wasn't a member on the site anymore, so I missed out on all the fun as a result... But this year I'm back- and I'm much healthier than I was when I last participated in 2018. Which, of course, means I can't pass up one of my favorite site events.   I plan on taking it easy this year, however; no lofty goals, nothing particularly intersting. Just good old fashioned chill fun- guided by the hands of my players who will be picking my topics this year; as they give me ideas for what they want to see me talk about in the setting, I'll update the Google Drive Sheet. So keep an eye out!

Progress Report, January 2021

I am so unbelievably proud to anounce that my final wordcount world World Ember 2020 was just over 20.1k; I wont be getting that sweet sweet 25k badge since I missed the badge requirements by 5k due to my own forgetfulness- and I doubt I'll be winning any of the article categories this round. But I'm still incredibly proud of my performance regardless.   For those of you who remember World Ember 2018 for me, despite winning the Item Category with "Dark Gold", I struggled immensely with my ADHD- which made it nearly impossible to write; every step I made towards my 50k goal last year was a struggle and a half despite writing every day, and I was miserable throughout the entire event.   This year was drastically different for me, and it really shows in how many articles I completed; even if many of the articles were short and a bit thin on content compared to what I typically write (especially there towards the end of the event)? That's still far better than I thought I'd do based on the results of 2018. The ease at which I did it, and the fact I wrote less than even 1/3rd of the month, too, really shows just how far I've come in the last two years.

Tis The Season

Spreading Cheer

Everyone wants to win, but that doesn't mean competitions have to be no-fun no-frills grump fests where everyone's out purely for their own gain. The Winter Holiday season's about more than just Worldember, after all. It's also about things like sharing, giving, and community.   I encourage everyone to support World Anvil Creators- and what better way is there than dropping a few dollars in someone's Ko-Fi, or getting a gift from their Wishlist? So regardless of level or skill... Add a link to your Ko-Fi pages, wishlists, or Patreon somewhere on your world. You never know who'll be the one to see it!

Spreading Love

Creatives thrive on love and feedback from our readers- and even if it's just a simple "this is great!", it means a lot to all of us and keeps us going. So don't be a stodgey, stingey Mr. Scrooge with all that love you've got cooped up in you.   Love an article? Give it a like! Have something nice to say? Leave a comment! And if things are going too fast to keep up, click that handy dandy Reading List button to make sure it's saved for later... But if you really love someone's style, the greatest gift you can give is to hit that follow button and keep up to date with their world. There's no good reason not to spread the love around!
