Hriva

The Hriva are one of the more well known specializations of the widespread Elf species. They are often found in colder climates, many find warmer climates to be awful and uncomfortable. The Hriva are most densely located within The Union Constelation, calling three Planes home.   Hriva live up to their common name of Frost Elf well by sharing common Elvish traits such as sharp pointed ears, though the Hriva ear is shorter and held flatter to the skull, similarly to ears sported by the various half-Elf species; tall and lithe statures, pale complexions, and enlongated lifespans.   The skin of a Frost Elf, however, takes the pale complexion of most elves to the next level; they typically are seen with snowy white skin to faded, light icy blue, all the better to blend in with their wintery environments. The hair color of most Hriva follows a similar pattern and is snowy white to silver. There are a few known genetic defects that cause Hriva to grow darker hair, which is often seen as a bad omen and enough to have such Hriva be labeled as outcasts or monsters.   All Hriva have bright golden or blue eyes and light grey sclera. Most Hriva sport a high visual acuity that greatly helps them track prey from far distances and across the many snowy wastes they call home.

Connection

Like standard Elves, nearly all Hriva grow to have a recognizable amount of Connection. It is very uncommon, even when considering birth defects, for Hriva to be born with a low potential for establishing Connection. Thus it is very common for Hriva to be seen outside their three Planes and within the wider Union, often in some sort of physical role due to their naturally high physicality.   Despite being within the Union, Graft expression is only marginally the most common form of Connection among Hriva, with Elementism and Martial Connections being near equal in number. Attunement-wise, Ice and Coldness are clear winners, which makes sense given the environments that most Hriva call home.   Female Hriva, of Koria and Riita, are capable of forming Connective Hybrids with Witches, producing Sylvids as offspring from the Hriva mother. Sylvids tend to inherit more biological, than Connective, traits from their Hriva mothers; often, they lack any of the known Hriva Attunements altogether. Though they do often inherit powerful Souls and Attunements from their Witch mother.   Many Hriva Clans make a lucrative business with The Union by breeding and training Sylvids into powerful warriors that can enter service for The Union. One of the more well known families in such business is the Trestari Family who trained the equally well known Thora Trestari who has been claimed to be on track to becoming renowned as legendary.
