"The Gift of Life, from Death"

Overview

Regardless of religious followings in Starwatch, all citizens respect and venerate the dead. In part, this is because of how the city itself was founded. While a Wild Baron was exploring the vast plains and hills surrounding the east of the Blood Gulch Mountains, they came across a massive river emerging from within the mountains. Following it's course, the baron and his men were able to take shelter within the surrounding green coridor from the never ending sun of the plains.     During this respite, the crew disturbed a nest of vipers and the baron was poisoned, several horses were spooked and broke carraiges, and two guards were injuried in the chaos. Disorganized and injured, the Baron was greeted by a vision only he could see: a translucent woman whos bones were visable through her glass like frame pearing from the nearby river.   Thinking her an apparition of Death, the Baron approached her to accept his fate as he felt the venom coursing through his veins. Luck have it, this was Moros, a spirit that had claimed the river and surrounding area as her home and she had simply come to investigate the commotion. Suprised by the human's interest, Moros allowed him to approach her. They sat in silence for a moment, and after the Baron asked where she would take him after he died, she laughed: She did not take the dead, though she did know of them and their ways. Specifically, her speciality was avoiding death.   Humored, she told him to enter her river with his men and the waters would take them somewhere safe. A place where they could cure their wounds. A place that was once hers, but was no longer. She had been run out by a true specter of death and could not approach unguarded. With the Baron on death's door, she could slip in and reclaim her lake.   The lake would go on to become the center of Moros Respite, and the river would become a major trade route. The Baron and his men, set down roots on this spot. However, despite the lake and rivers and fertile land, Starwatch would grow away from this spot as the land now belonged to Moros.
