Niea

Niea is the fourth orbital body from the star of the Zao Livis Solar System. It is a planet with a temperature range of -20°C to 27°C. The atmosphere of Niea is breathable to humans and is composed primarily of nitrogen and oxygen. Despite being capable of hosting sophontic life, Niea is home to no sophontic species. It does, however, host a large amount of plant, animal, insect, and fungal species.

Geography

Niea is a tectonically active planet with many mountain ranges and valleys rising from its salt-filled seas. Overall, 24% of Niea's surface is land, while the remaining 76% is water. The 76% water includes the ice caps at Niea's poles and the large inland sea of the pangea-like continent.

Climate

The climate of Niea is considered cool in comparison to other planets, but is still in the habitable temperature range.

The coasts of Niea's continent are prone to mild thunderstorms and rain in the summer months, but have fairly dry winters. This contrasts with the mostly mountainous inland areas which have wet, snowy winters and drier summers.

Flora and Fauna

Niea is home to a vast number of non-sophontic beings, but no sophontic life has successfully developed on the planet. There are traces of a stone-age-level civilization on the planet, but no surviving members of the species responsible for such traces have been found.

Flora

The number of herbaceous plant species on Niea is almost uncountable. Flowering plants in particular seem to thrive on Niea's continent. Even the trees found on the planet are angiosperms.

Fauna

Niea is home to many species of insects and birds in particular. These insects and birds survive and thrive in a pollinator relationship with the plants of Niea. Most predators are mammals.
