Harvest Giving
Describe a tradition of gift-giving in your world — #WorldEmberGift
Harvest Giving is a newly-established tradition of giving small gifts to friends and family at the end of the harvest season on Niea. It was established by the Survivors of Eden after they came to settle on the planet in 2121 SE. The tradition goes hand-in-hand with the festival of Harvest's End. Both Harvest's End and Harvest Giving were established to celebrate the year and to prepare people's spirits for the hard winter to come.
Participation
Everyone who is old enough to work during the year's harvest is eligible to receive a gift from their friends and family during Harvest Giving. A person who is old enough to work is generally expected to have acquired at least three to five gifts to give to fellow workers whom they share ties to.
Gifts can range from toys to tools to extra foodstuffs, but are generally given based on the person's relationship to the gifter. Those who are closer to the gifter tend to get more extravagant or expensive gifts while those who have a more distant relationship will get those that are less expensive.
Those who are not yet old enough to work the fields are usually given small candies to sate their want of a gift and to show that they are appreciated as well.
This is such a nice way to recognize the communal effort that goes towards a harvest!
