Zernograd {WASC 2021} (ZAIR-no-grahd)
Zernograd lies within the central region of Veterzemlya at the formation of the Dolinareki River. This river is formed where multiple tributaries join into a much larger thouroughfare. The river and its previous tributaries provide a natural transportation system that has been ingrained in to the Veterzemlyan commerce and agricultural systems.
The regions in the middle of Veterzemlya include many planes with high grass. This fertile and tree barren able to harvest the wheat. While many of the countries around saga dorm still rely on sickles to harvest the grain, a Veterzemlya and farmer invented an automatic harvester that could be pulled behind horses. Later came an automated thrasher that was powered by horses that drove around the thrasher.
Zernograd's central location in the country and at the convergence of the many tributaries made it the ideal location for a grainnery and grain storage.

The greatest advancement by the people of Zernograd is the advancements made in long-term storage and transportation of grains. These advancements include storing grains locally in large silos that were prepared to be weatherproof and allowed grains to be stored for many years. These granaries ensured that if there was shortages in other years or bad harvests that the people still had grain to eat.
Cash Crop Exports
Because of the advancements in harvesting and threshing technology, fewer farmers were needed to grow enough grain to feed the population. Instead of diversifying the population's workspace, the Veterzemlyan royalty made larger efforts in the transportation and distribution of grains as cash crop exports to other countries.
The success of the transportation of these grains across saga dorm has led to the nickname of "breadbasket of the world."
