Skull Mountain

Skull Mountain is a formidable and intimidating mountain in the Drájæl Mountain Range. The mouth of the mountain is crudely in the shape of the cranium of a skull. The eye sockets and nasal opening appear to be in pitch darkness. It is said that a great and terrible lich king resides there. Those who go to slay it don't return... at least not in the same form they were when they went in. The lich sends out unsavoury hordes of undead and reanimations as its followers. For centuries, Skull Mountain has been the lich king's home. The lands surrounding the mountain are desolate and not incredibly hospitable. In fact, the dominant beings found lurking around the area would be apparitions, daemons, and reanimated corpses and skeletons. Occasionally, one can see an eerie red glow spilling out from the mouth of the mountain. A gloomy fog also lingers around the wastelands and marshes surrounding the mountain. There is lore that the mountain is filled with a sea of bones of those who enter. This also contributes to its namesake. There is oft a stench from the abundance of corpses and stale blood. So-called heroes would quest to defeat the lich king. Other wanderers that neared the mountain would disappear as well. Eerie lights within the mountain, along with kin of the Will of the Wisps, often lure the passersby to their untimely deaths. More lore says that the mountain is an entrance to the netherworld filled with daemons and infernals. It holds the diabolic labyrinth known as the Nine Circles of Hell. Hell-spawn has historically worked with the lich king in its pursuit for immortality and towards world domination. For centuries, Skull Mountain has been known as an epicentre for evil and paranormal activity.
