Pyreland

Home to the Dragonlords the land originally was ruled by a vicious dragon who forced the surrounding tribes to tithe gold and food. Eventually the people rose up and slew the dragon leading to generations of untold wealth and prosperity.

Structure

While Pyreland was originally united under a single leader when the Dragonlord Alric Pyrebeard died in battle the alliance of tribal leaders held but grew less organized. Today the Dragonlords rule through their individual tribe but recognize the leader of the tribes as one who either is strongest or is championed by the strongest, he is given the title of Great Wyrm and only the rest of the tribal leaders combined can overrule his decrees.

History

The Pyrish lived their lives among the southern part of Leatis in the Verdant Crater. There almost thirty tribes of fierce warriors were constantly fighting for dominance but all gave tribute to the Dragon that controlled the valley. For generations the tribes were forced to give more and more gold to the Dragon or he would burn their crops and devour their people. Often the tribes would travel far outside the Verdent Crater just to raid richer communities in hopes of paying tribute. Eventually the gold around the Crater grew smaller and the raiders had to travel further to find more, several tribes were destroyed for failing to provide the Dragons tribute. Fearful of the dragon but desperate to save their tribes the leaders gathered together under the banner of peace to plan the death of the Dragon. Under the guise of a tribute the tribes sent cart after cart to the Dragons den only for the men to throw off the coverings to show not gold but the amassed tribes. The battle was fierce but the Dragon was taken by surprise and fat with the ages of tribute it had been given. When the the Dragon was slain the tribes split the wealth among those that participated and those who died leading to an age of wealth and prosperity.   From that age of wealth and prosperity the fifteen tribes that had participated took the name Dragonlords and grew. Other tribes flourished under the Dragon's fall but none as much as the Dragonlords. For a time the tribes returned to their ways of conflict and battle but the lure of wealth brought many enemies. After several tribes fell to foreign invaders it took the strength and charisma of Alric Pyrebeard to gather the tribes under a single banner. The combined forces pushed back the invaders and took more lands for the collected tribes. For a time the Dragonlords grew in strength, wealth, and size till Kerberos Crimson, King of Scarlett slew Alric Pyrebeard. The Dragonlords retreted from their conflicts and had begun fighting among themselves, Pyrebeards heirs had died alongside their father and though his wife was strong she was no warrior. The tribes of Dragonlords held together in alliance though were unable to work together as well as Pyrebeard had led them, for Alric was so loved among the Dragonlords that they named the newly forged country Pryeland.   Eventually the council of tribal leaders established rites and rules and the newly championed leader took the title of Great Wyrm. The council itself became a check for the Great Wyrm as none among the council wished to give up all power. But with an organized populace and a growing identity Pyreland grew upward as it claimed the Verdant Crater as all of Pyreland. In truth the land the dragonlords claim is but a fraction of the verdant crater but even without the threat of the dragon there are titans and many more threats.   Today there are thirteen surviving tribes among the Dragonlords all under the Great Wyrm Golath the Great. While a few smaller tribes work with or around larger tribes one tribe is seeking to be recognized among the council of Dragonlords, they would be ignored outright were it not for their number of strong warriors and growing fame in protecting the smaller tribes from raiders.

The Pyrish are constantly at war with the Kingdom of Scarlett, when the Grey Court took control then Great Wyrm Alexander Deimos led a campaign to take the capitol of Scarlett only for the Great Wyrm Deimos to die suddenly of poison. The current Great Wyrm is not a warrior himself and believes he could successfully take Scarlett but not without too great a cost. Instead he is biding his time waiting for an opening, he is curious as to Scarlett's interest in Forbuho and sent a company of his best men to investigate the island.
