Historical Details

Background

Alondale was raised within an orphanage of the Saint Rose but never believed. Instead when told tales of the Saint Rose Alondale sought to understand how she became a Saint. Mistaking interest for faith Alondale was accepted as a priest within the Church were he spent his formative years learning everything he could find documenting the Saint before her ascension. After coming to a dead end he left the Church and sought out the other faiths that professed to follow Saints.   Travelling to Neo Verge he went into the deepest forests in search of the Cult of Hunger. Travelling with a band of adventurers they scoured the darkest woods and brought back riches in the form of exotic creatures and rare plants and minerals. It was three years of searching and making a name for themselves as accomplished rangers before being ambushed by the Druids of the Maw. The tribe of Druids were devote followers of the Hunger and their society was built entirely around becoming perfect predators in the name of their Saint. It was only Alondale's quick thinking and silver tongue that saved him though the rest of his party were not as lucky, as the cannibalistic barbarians were all too eager to sate their need and devour strong fighters. Alondale does not speak of what he did or how he managed to leave but after a year he appeared in one of the settlements of Neo Verge and sailed from the continent the next day. The book details some rituals and as much of the history that is known but is the smallest of the four.   The third book was written in Coppurn, originally a small city with a strong sense of law Darkson had supposedly ascended and drew many faithful. Weather the city had changed before or after Darkson no one is sure but it is now a strict city led by the Watch and the Watch Commander and High Priest of Darkson. Part pirate port part prison the city was regulated strongly with its laws absolute but with only a few laws in place it also held a sense of danger and untamed wild. There Alondale joined the Watch and rose within the ranks until he was able to meet with and speak to the Watch Commander.   After leaving Coppurn Alondale became a hermit and sequestered himself away from people for twp years. When he finally returned to civilization he brought with him his writing that he had printed into a dozen books. He brought his book to the town of Weis where his book managed to get him a job teaching religious studies within the Great College. As his teachings and books spread he was eventually granted the title Sage and was both revered and reviled. Upon being asked to speak to a supposed royal patron of knowledge Alondale's carriage was ambushed en route and he was stabbed to death. This only spurred the authors words as his death spread like wildfire and many more began to read the Ascension of the Deity.

Public Reaction

For publishing this book Alondale was given the title Sage. Lauded by Bardic Colleges, Arcane Schools, and a few faiths there was also a large backlash among the more faith driven populace who claimed Alondale was attempting to overthrow the Gods.

Legacy

Before Alondale was able to figure out how to become a Saint he became a martyr. His death inspired many to attempt Sainthood and the creation of the Ascendant, a loose coalition of likeminded people who attempt to become Saints.   There was even a few who claimed Alondale's death was the last thing that was needed to make him a saint this was eventually disproved as the followers of Alondale never attained the clerical powers of the other faiths. Instead Sage Alondale is recognized if not villianized around the world.
