Common Dress Code

@Qaluen attire mainly consists of brightly colored kimonos for women adorned and lined with furs and leathers, the obiage being completely replaced with a leather and fur corset. Men typically wear dark or neutral colored haoris, occasionally wearing brighter solid colors as well, also adorned with leathers and furs, the himo being completely replaced by a thick leather belt. Men also typically wear a short fur and leather cape. Outside of the house, both genders wear a variety of leather shoes and boots while inside the house they tend to wear socks and sometimes zori like sandals. Women are expected to practically never cut their hair and often keep them in braids or other intricate designs. Men keep their hair short but still long enough to put in a ponytail. Though it is uncommon, some men opt to shave the sides of their head in order to draw more attention to horns that grow deeper into their hairlines. Piercings are very common in both men and women, almost everyone is expected to have at least 2 or 3 while women will tend to have more. While they are common, they aren't loud and tend to be small and understated. Common piercings for men are everywhere on the ears and eyebrows as well as the bridge of the nose. Women tend to get piercings everywhere on the ear, on their dimples if they have them, below and above their lips and the lower parts of their nose, and rarely near or below their eyes and very rarely on their tongues. Both genders embed piercings, gems, and metals in their horns to show off their wealth, a lot of times the changes they make to them are irreversible. Men will occasionally wear warpaint like makeup but little else. Women tend to wear colorful makeup on and around their eyes, on and around the dark tips of their noses, greatly detailing their upper lips, and to exaggerate or define their freckles and other markings. For more formal outings, both genders will tend to wear leather bracers on their wrists, although the men's tend to be thicker and go further up the arm while the women's sometimes have a thin piece of leather connecting to a metal ring on their middle finger. Women will be expected to wear their hair up in in intricate ways and have a variety of decorations on their horns, including leather braces on both horns with a chain called an Qobiamo that connects loosely below the chin that then extends either to a waist chain or to their husband or household heads bracer, depending on the subject matter of the event and the way it is organized (if it’s inconvenient or not to be connected as in a social gathering where mingling is expected). In the event where they are not connected, the household head will have short chains hanging on his bracer matching each Qobiamo his women are wearing. These Qobiamo are normally decorated in intricate beads made of bones, precious metals, and various gems and crystals. Men are also expected to decorate their horns with tattered fabrics and leathers, sometimes going as far as encasing their horns in form-fitting leathers with cutouts showing off their implants. Both men and women are expected to wear their families colors in makeup at formal events, the men in war paint and the women in more complex designs, covering the dark part of their nose, shading their eyelids, and detailing their freckles and other markings with their families colors while painting their lips to match their skin tone, making them appear to not be there.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

They have few positive opinions on most races, though they do view pure breed @humans as their equals. Half-Qali that display more traditionally human traits than Qali traits are deemed to be "fawns" and are treated much more poorly than if they were pure breed in either direction. It is a tad hypocritical, however, as likely as much as 80 percent of qali have lost their iconic long ears in favor of human ears due to it being a genetically dominant trait.
