Summer Camp 2022 Pledge

Preparation

Homework 1: The Pledge

by World Anvil

I pledge that this years summer camp is full of fun and consistancy and that my overthinking and strive for perfectionism is limited so that I will actually ACTIVELY invest time to world build and turn in submissions to the prompts.   My creative goal for this years summer camp is to dig a little deeper into the world of Rysidor and ACTUALLY collect all my thoughts from my numorous notebooks, expand on snippets of ideas and get more articles on to World Anvil! My motivation goal for this year is to have fun. While it would be amazing to be able to achieve the Diamond Badge (a goal I am still going to work towards) my primary focus is to have fun, hit that 300 word mark (or more!), and really tackle each prompt and taking the time to dive a little deeper. My challenge goal is to strive for the Diamond Badge!

Homework 2: Themes

Expanse

Deserts, Prariers, Oceans, oh my! Expanding on and creating interesting and unique biomes and locations are always a blast. Creating a new home for my various creatures and characters always add depth. Creating a new place gives birth to new species, characters, adventure and trouble. Some of the equally loved but not as developed (behind the sense at least) areas to explore this year are going to be:

Admaris' Gems
Ko'ten Mountain Range
Ashen Plains

Leadership

Whether reverant or notorious, the title and individual that falls under a leadership role can mean an number of things. From the High Priest or Priestess to the Captian of a nefarious pirate ship, there are a number of opportunities to explore that can fix within the various themes for this years summer camp.

Religious
Nobility
Guild Leaders

Discovery

There is much left to discovery on Rysidor. Everything from lost treasures to forgotten ruins and civilizations. While I am keeping these prompts more open to different ideas, I am excited to see what prompts may be useful towards developing more of the lost race of the Aeranas and their crucial rolls they play in past and future events.

Monstrous

From what lurks in the Void to the taboo practices of the Da'gu Cult, there are things that linger on Rysidor that can be traced back to the Great War. There have been rumblings of an old evil stirring and there may not be a force that can stand against it. These prompts I am hoping to dive in a little more on the dark side of worldbuilding and develop the force that will challenge heroes new and old.

Da'gu Cult
Widely Known Taboo Practices
The Void
Things that go bump in the night

Homework 4: Planning for Success!

Schedule

Summertime is one of the busiest time of the year for me but this year I am sticking better to my schedule that I am setting for myself in all aspects of my life (work, Church, family, hobbies, etc.). I will be jotting down ideas before July starts and throughout the weeks during Summer Camp. My scheduled days to dedicate time to worldbuild and knock out promts will be Saturdays - Mondays.

Support

My biggest supporter and brainstormer for this challenge is my husband, as many of our Mondays are our 'date night' to work on worldbuilding together. In addition this year, I am going to share, ask, help and occationally lurk on World Anvil's Summer Camp Discord Channel for additional support and inspiration.   Another helpful resource I found over the last week is Tj Trewin's article Rivers and Waterways Competition that gives an organized breakdown on how to dive into prompts for challenges.
