Etheri Wolf

The Etheri Wolves are the gods companions. They keep the life veins of the world flowing and are a welcomed sign of change. Those blessed to have a pack in their midst must must take heed if the pack abandons its territory. It is a sign of future hardship for the area.

The Etheri Wolf is the largest canine aside from Nightglows and almost equally famous. These wolves live in a close knit family structure, lead by the parent breeding pair. The rest of the family is usually made up of the puppies of the lead pair, but will occasionally take in unrelated, non-dominate members. Etheri Wolves have a high sensitivity to magic, both Gosamyr and Cymmeri. They are viewed as a nomadic species has they will travel around and follow the Gosamyr current that flows through the world rather than following herds and food sources and it is speculative that Etheri Wolves do not physically eat, rather absorb sustenance from the Gosamyr veins they make their territories along.

Appearance

There are two subspecies of Etheri Wolves. Northern and Southern. The Northern Wolves are known for their thick double coat that helps keep them well insolated in the cold and wet climates of the northern territories. The Northern Wolves are larger of the two subspecies and have a stockier body as they hunt larger prey and often share territories with larger predators. Their long tails help them keep warm, but also give them a better sense of balance in the mountain regions. During the summer months, the undercoat of the double coat will shed out.   The Southern Wolves are smaller in size and have a much thinner coat that is better suited for the warmer climates of the south. They are a leaner build than their northern cousins, making them quick on their feet. They sometimes get confused with the Cactus Hound.   In both subspecies it is common to find brown, grey, red, black, and white coats. The most unique characteristic of Etheri Wolves are their unusual markings in their coats that is bioluminescent. Their eye color and coat glow share the same colors. The brightness of the colors is based on the strength of the gosamyr source in the area. Puppies don't get their markings and glow until after their first shed. Most members in the packs have one or two colors. Those more dominate or are the alpha pair have three or four colors.
