Valiskaya Zemlya Valisiyan society and government are highly democratic compared to the rest of Sartaldia. Each town has its own veche, or assembly. The capital city of Lisgorod is divided into Ends (neighbourhoods), each having their own veche.

Religion

In terms of religion Valisiya is fairly tolerant, allowing both old and new Nascean beliefs to co-exist. They even allow pagan Kaurh to worship discreetly. There aren’t any laws preventing Jallish inquisitors from operation in Valisiya but due its distance from Jalle their presence is virtually unheard of.

Legislative Body

The highest legislative and judicial body in Valisiya is the Seym, made up of high ranking boyars (nobles) and bishops. The city-wide Lisgorod Veche acts as the lower house and the Seym acts as the upper house. Members of the Seym are: • Kantslezh Valki (Grand Chancellor) in charge of foreign and internal affairs, approving legislation and relaying the Prince’s will. Chancellors are the guardians of the Prince and state, ensuring that the Prince’s folly would not endanger the state by forcing it into an unnecessary war. • Marshawek Valki (Grand Marshal) in charge of providing security to the Prince and keeping order where he is present • Podskarbi Valki (Grand Treasurer) keep accounts of the state finances, cash flow and State Treasury, and controlled the minting of coin • Voivodes rule the different regions (voivodships) of Valisiya • Starostova (mayors) rule individual towns in each voivodship • The starosta of Lisgorod is considered more important than the voivodes • Bishops take care of temples and local religious affairs • Archbishop of Lisgorod is the ultimate religious authority in Valisiya The Veche of Lisgorod includes: • Lower ranking boyars • Rich merchants • Local veche representatives, generally the richest or most influential person in each End or town Both houses (collectively called the Seym) elect a Prince from one of the boyar families and once elected the Prince names a Chancellor, Marshal and Treasurer. The Prince also names Hetmans in times of war.
