Legislative Body
Historically the three estates of Ulveizh were the king, the Privy Council (Coréithl Shurunach) and parliament (Lavarável). After the king himself, the Privy Council is the most important governing body in the kingdom. It consists of the Great Lords of State, who either inherit their positions or are appointed to exercise certain largely ceremonial functions or operate as part of the government. • Lord High Chancellor (Donu Barnaunuch): appointed by the king on his coronation. Almost always a high ranking druid in service of the royal house. He is the Keeper of the State Seal, adviser in both spiritual and temporal matters and presides over the House of Lords even if not a lord himself. • Lord High Treasurer (Donu Danchasiuch): head of the royal treasury. Often considered the most important official of the government he’s usually a de facto Prime Minister. • Lord Privy Seal (Donu Seula Shurunach): appointed by the king and in charge of the King’s personal seal, as opposed to the State Seal. May at times preside over the House of Commons. • Lord Great Chamberlain (Donu Seómrath Wói): has charge over the royal palace. Also has a major part to play in royal coronations, having the right to dress the monarch on coronation day and to serve the monarch water before and after the coronation banquet, and also being involved in investing the monarch with the insignia of rule. A hereditary position held by the Earls of Tarag. • Lord High Constable (Donu Maortanchuch): commander of the royal armies and the Master of the Horse. The Court of Honour (dealing with feuds) is also held before him. A hereditary position held by the Earls of Éplan. • Lord High Admiral (Donu Árdvericheuch): head of the Wulvech Navy. Often held by members of the royal family or favourites at court.   Parliament is a bicameral legislature consisting of the House of Lords (Téi Donué) and the House of Commons (Téi Tóthé). Kings need parliament to legitimise many of their decisions, mostly out of a need to raise money through taxation legitimately without causing discontent. The presiding officer in the House of Commons is formally known as the "Speaker" (Lavaríath). A member of either chamber can present a "bill" to parliament. Bills supported by the monarch are often proposed by members of the Privy Council who sit in parliament. In order for a bill to become law it would have to be approved by a majority of both Houses of Parliament before it passed to the monarch for royal assent or veto. Historically Parliament was able to wield immense power over the king during certain periods but under the last two kings its use was devolved to rubber-stamping the king’s decrees.
Judicial Body
Brehons are jurists and itinerant judges appointed by the king to enforce law in all parts of the kingdom.
